Wokeness Is Coming For Classical Christian Education
A response in The Federalist, January 20, in the Year of our Lord 2023
Last week, a scholar and speaker in classical Christian circles, Jessica Hooten Wilson, wrote an article in Current online: “Is White Supremacy a Bug or a Feature of Classical Christian Education?” Normally, I do not respond to pieces like this. But, this was really a call to use critical theory based logic within CCE. It advocates for a woke form of racism in the name of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” Given the danger of this type of virtue signaling to our schools, I choose to respond in The Federalist. I will respond here in the coming weeks.
A quick clarification, I think CCE is the least woke place in education right now. We at the ACCS are just trying to keep it that way. If you're in a classical Christian school, you're in the right place.
I see your concern and I’ll raise you. Classical Academic Press, one of the so-called classical Christian curriculum houses, is at least “woke-lite” and I think it will only get worse. They are Uber-concerned about “diversity” and not nearly concerned enough about academic quality or biblical fidelity.
